A 70-year-old widow has been charged with murdering her Jewish husband, whose body was discovered at his Greater Manchester home in March.

David Berman, 84, a businessman and great-grandfather as well as a member of the local Jewish community, was found dead at his home on Butterstile Lane, Prestwich, on March 13.

Greater Manchester Police said after initial enquiries that the injuries he sustained were deemed “suspicious”. His widow has now been accused of mariticide.

Daryl Berman, 70, also of Butterstile Lane, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with murder.
