TV anchor can be seen scurrying for cover amid a loud explosion and billowing smoke
June 16, 2025 15:55Footage appears to show an Israeli strike on Iran’s state broadcaster in Tehran occur while a programme is live on air.
In a clip posted to X, a woman wearing a hijab can be seen sternly waving her finger at the camera and speaking in apocalyptic tones during a show being aired by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) corporation.
Moments later, the sound of a huge explosion can be heard as an Israeli strike interrupts the broadcast.

The backdrop behind the woman appears to collapse into a black void amid billowing smoke and the anchor can be seen fleeing the studio.
Footage posted to X showed the aftermath of the Israeli airstrike on Iran’s state broadcaster building. The building could be seen engulfed by fire.

Earlier, the IDF issued an evacuation warning for the area in Tehran where IRIB’s headquarters are based. Defence Minister Israel Katz had said: “The Iranian propaganda and incitement mouthpiece is on its way to disappear.”
Katz added that the evacuation of the surrounding residences had begun.
The IDF had earlier struck a military base in western Tehran, Iranian media reported - a strike confirmed by footage. IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee had issued an evacuation warning in Persian to the residents of the third district of Tehran – the area around the base – in a social media post.
